Florida Surf Film Festival Announces Programming for August 23rd Event Featuring East Coast Premiere of A Marble in the Jar

— Honoring the Life and Legacy of Filmmaker Greg Browning —

New Smyrna Beach, FL — The Florida Surf Film Festival (FSFF), presented by Monster Energy and Surfing’s Evolution and Preservation Foundation and in partnership with Daytona State College, is proud to present its third-quarter event on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the News‑Journal Center. The centerpiece of the evening will be the East Coast Premiere of A Marble in the Jar, an intimate documentary by Greg Browning and Scott Smith (in attendance), featuring surfing phenom Tatiana Weston‑Webb.

This special screening is dedicated to the memory of Greg Browning, who passed away earlier this year. A beloved figure in the surf community, Greg was a celebrated surfer, filmmaker, father, and friend. A Marble in the Jar stands as a moving tribute to his storytelling brilliance, deep empathy, and unwavering love for surfing and family.

Greg’s surf career began in the 1990s as a standout member of Taylor Steele’s Momentum Generation. He transitioned from professional surfer to a prolific filmmaker, directing and producing numerous iconic surf films and media for Body Glove and beyond. His gift for weaving stunning visuals with heartfelt narrative left a lasting impact on the world of surf cinema.

Joining us to honor his memory are Scott Smith, co-director and longtime collaborator, and Parker Browning, Greg’s son, who continues his father’s work with integrity and spirit.
