We are thrilled to be back at our original venue and to share an extraordinary lineup of surf cinema with our community. This year's program spans the globe — from the rugged coasts of Tasmania and the Arctic of Scandinavia to the remote Bering Sea and the backroads and shores of New Zealand — and includes a special film from our very own Sam Scribner from New Smyrna Beach.
Special Note Regarding Paul Prewitt Memorial Service:
Please note that on Sunday, June 21st, in memory of Florida filmmaker, Paul Prewitt, please join the community to celebrate his life and legacy at Al Weeks North Shore Park in Ormond by the Sea at 10AM. There will be a beach ceremony and a paddle out for Paul. If inspired, please bring your favorite Paul Prewitt story or sighting to share. ~ Diana Sita Prewitt

THE FILMS
The Emancipation of Timid Little Pipou
dir. Rodrigue Llado | 18 min. | Short
Timid Little Pipou doesn't know it yet, but there is more to life than watching cats on YouTube and being afraid to talk to people. Follow along as our wonderfully awkward friend discovers life through surfing in Brittany, SW France, and Portugal — growing into himself along the way.
dir. Fielder Films / Ben Weiland | 31 min. | Feature
The highly anticipated sequel to the award-winning Island X. Surfers Noah Wegrich, Pete Devries, Mark McInnis, and Alaska surf exploration legend Josh Mulcoy venture deeper into the Bering Sea, chasing rumors of perfect waves in one of the most remote and unforgiving places on Earth.
Hometown Hype — New Smyrna Beach
dir. Sam Scribner | 17 min. | Short
Local filmmaker Sam Scribner was tasked with bringing the New Smyrna Beach chapter of Hometown Hype to life — and he delivered. Part love letter, part history lesson, the film pays homage to those who laid the groundwork for surfing in our hometown and explores the town's rich culture, growth, and identity on the East Coast surf scene. A must-see for anyone who calls NSB home.
dir. Needessentials / Torren Martyn & Ishka Folkwell | 75 min. | Feature
Surfer and adventurer Torren Martyn and his best friend and filmmaker Ishka Folkwell attempt to circumnavigate Tasmania in two 18-foot sailing kayaks on a quest to surf remote waves. What begins as a bold sailing feat soon evolves into a rare, slow-travel journey connecting with the entire coastline of Tasmania — its people, wildlife, landscapes, and the powerful energy of the Great Southern Ocean.
dir. Morgan Maassen | 17 min. | Short
A film documenting the obsessive adventures of Swedish surfer Freddie Meadows, leading up to a historic big-wave discovery in the Arctic. Named after the Norse goddess of the sea, Rán is the culmination of years of cold-water exploration along the fringes of Scandinavia.
dir. Needessentials / Milo Inglis | 67 min. | Feature
With no cycling experience and a surfboard strapped to the back of her bike, Johanna Brebner pedals more than 2,000 kilometers up the length of New Zealand — her childhood home — in search of waves, reconnection, and something harder to name. A portrait of slow travel, endurance, and the unexpected beauty found in between.
Salt in the Veins
dir. Emilie Lowe | 6 min. | Short
Two brothers who have been surfing together for over 50 years continue to defy age and expectations.
dir. Emmett Malloy | 75 min. | Feature
This remarkable documentary traces Jack Johnson's rise from making surf videos with friends on Oahu's North Shore to becoming one of the most recognizable voices in modern music. Before his chart-topping career, Johnson was a promising surfer and filmmaker, capturing friends — many of the world's best surfers — on 16mm film in Thicker Than Water and The September Sessions. Those surf films helped redefine modern surf culture, and the songs he recorded for the soundtracks launched a music career rooted in creativity, community, and the rhythm of the sea. Directed by longtime collaborator Emmett Malloy and featuring Kelly Slater, Rob Machado, Gerry Lopez, Ben Harper, and John Florence. Dedicated to the memory of Tamayo Perry.
